The Power of Peptides

A peptide is a chain of two or more amino acids. When a peptide is applied to your skin, your skin says, “Now we have what we need to make collagen. LET’S DO IT!!!”

As you age, the blood flow to the dermis is reduced and therefore fewer amino acids and peptides are delivered to the skin. If the nutrients to the skin are reduced, then the amount of new cells made is reduced.

Many peptides linked together form a protein. Collagen (the cushiony cells in the dermis) is the most abundant protein in the body. When the body does not get enough nutrients to form collagen, wrinkles and sagging occur and vessels are not covered or supported.

Peptides in skincare products are biologically active; they are the “food” used to stimulate new skin growth.

  • Peptides cause no irritation or damage to the skin as with vitamin C, AHA (alpha-hydroxy acids), BHA (beta-hydroxy acids) or retinols.
  • They don’t cause sun sensitivity.
  • When peptides are applied topically, they can increase the number of dermal cells made from 117-327%. They do an amazing job of improving the skin for someone who is aging or those with rosacea.

Characteristics of Peptides:

  1. Peptides stimulate cell activity by signaling cells to produce more collagen, thus smoothing fine lines, covering surface vessels and improving skin elasticity.
  2. They act as a messenger between the epidermis and dermis.
  3. Peptides penetrate deeper into the skin than other skin care ingredients for better results.
  4. They’re far superior at retaining moisture in the skin and improving circulation.
  5. Some peptides will attract other cells needed to repair and reconstruct the dermis.

The Aminogenesis Skin Care Line and Dr. Denese product lines have heavy amounts of peptides in their products. If you want improvement for almost any skin issue or just want to maintain your already healthy skin, peptides are essential in your daily skincare regimen.

Date Night Prep: How To Get Your Skin Soft, Firm & Toned All Over!

Date Night Skin Care Prep

So you’ve got a big date with a new man (or your hot husband) and want to look your best?  You want to make sure your skin is soft (all over), your body is firm and that you are feeling your best.

Here are a few tips on how to tighten, tone, exfoliate and primp your way to a better you!

  1. If it’s a big date, start a day early. Take a shower and exfoliate dead skin cells with a body scrub. Exfoliate before shaving to help you achieve a better shave. This will prep your skin for self-tanner, body wraps and cellulite cream.
  2. Apply a self-tanner. Exfoliating prior to applying will help achieve an even tan. If you are extremely pale, applying the self-tanner the day prior and the day of the date will give you a deeper tan.
  3. Apply cellulite cream/moisturizer. Applying lotion after you apply your self-tanner will help your tanner to go on evenly.  Be sure to hit those troubled spots with the cellulite creme for days, if not weeks, prior to your date.  The longer you use a cellulite cream, the better the benefits.
  4. Hit the hay with a body wrap. Apply a body wrap to the areas you would like to firm, put on tight clothing or wrap saran wrap around it and get some sleep!  Remove the body wrap when you wake up in the morning and rub in remaining lotion for added effect.
  5. Apply a face mask. Depending on your sensitivity, wash your face and use a face mask that exfoliates dead skin cells. If you have sensitive skin, use a mask a day or two before the date as you may get redness. Collagen masks will plump, clay masks will tighten and vitamin masks soften and nourish the skin. For more information on masks, read Face Masks & Peels: The Most Under-Utilized Tool.
  6. Apply a light moisturizer. Doing masks and peels will sometimes dry the skin out so it is important to apply a light moisturizer. Choose one that’s not too heavy because you don’t want to clog pores. I prefer serums after a mask. Serums are cleaner, don’t have fillers and won’t clog your pores. For more on this, check out Why Using A Serum vs. A Lotion Matters.

Voila! You should feel firmer and softer all over your body after this routine. Apply your makeup, put on that hot dress and you’re ready to go!

The Use Of Alpha Hydroxy Acids & Skin Cancer

I’ve been reading quite a bit about the use of Alpha Hydroxy Acids and higher instances of skin cancer.  Is there a link?  It’s worth checking out as I recently had a basel cell carcinoma removed from my chest and I THINK it was from doing peels.

LiquiddropAlpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s) were derived from the professional peels of plastic surgeons and dermatologists with a lesser concentration starting to show up in non-professional skin care products in 1989.  The most common acids used are glycolic acid, lactic acid and salicylic acid or any combination of the aforementioned.

Acids are beneficial in that they strip the top layer of the skin, revealing softer, newer skin below.  By “peeling” the skin, it helps hyperpigmentation (age spots), lines, wrinkles and skin roughness.  If left on too long they will literally “burn” the skin off and cause rash, irritation and redness.

Since you are peeling the top layer of skin off, it makes sense that it is very important to apply sunscreen and stay out of the sun.  Studies have shown that your cells will absorb and more UV light and cause 20-50% more damage when exposed after the use of AHA’s and BHA’s.

What does this mean?

  • Be careful of the products you are using and what is in them.
  • If you buy something with AHA’s or BHA’s, stay out of the sun or be diligent about sun block
  • Don’t ever buy a sunscreen with AHA’s or BHA’s
  • If you do any sort of peel at home, follow with sunscreen or better yet, stay out of the sun all together

I can see how many would use body lotions with acids, rub it on their legs and arms and go out with only putting sunscreen on their face.  Don’t do this, you are increasing your UV damage by taking off that layer of skin and going out in the sun.  This is exactly what I did with my chest.  I did a peel at home and was not diligent about sun block on my chest.  I am very diligent about sunscreen on my face, but not my chest.

Know yourself and your habits, if you aren’t going to apply sunscreen, don’t buy products with AHA’s. Save your skin.

PCA Skin Apres Peel Soothing Balm: Product Review

Apres Peel is advertised as a soothing balm with the power of hydrocortisone (it contains 0.5% hydrocortisone) and, honestly, this is a product that lives up to the hype.  This light moisturizer not only rehydrates, but it calms the skin, reduces redness and irritation. I’m fair-skinned and always in need of a fix for all too visible flaws.  Don’t use it as a daily moisturizer though.  Rather, it should be used on an “as needed” basis.

aprespeelI use it once or twice each week.  I love the texture.  It’s light and silky and I love the smell: delicate, sweet. Something about this product harkens back to another, more elegant time for me, a time of cold creams and dimly lit vanities. I’ve also found that PCA Skin Apres Peel quickly disappears once applied, leaving no residue or greasy film. And, most importantly, I’ve noticed that flaws, especially areas of irritation, are considerably less noticeable after consistent use. It improved both the look and feel of my skin in a relatively short amount of time.

The Soothing Balm runs between $25-$30 online and is part of the Normal/Dry Skin Care Kit if you would like to try samples before buying the full sized product.

Credentials RosaCalm Skin Serum: Product Review

Rosacea, hyperpigmentation and constant red-tinted skin.  If you are like me, redness and hyperpigmentation are my constant battles.  The Credentials RosaCalm Skin Serum actually helped reduce the redness and calm the skin.   I used it primarily for hyperpigmentation spots as opposed to redness, but found it incredibly effective following a few days of twice daily use.

Its thin, gel-like consistency virtually disappears once applied. I’m a huge fan of SkinCeuticals Phyto+ for the reduction of hyperpigmentation (age spots) and am now absolutely torn as to which product works better!

The Credentials RosaCalm Skin Serum is also said to help revive skin, strengthening it whilst preventing damage caused by the environment.   rosacalmthumbI don’t know about all that, but I do know that I actually considered leaving my house make-up free after several days of use. I didn’t actually do it, but I had a lovely, though brief, moment where I thought I actually could do it.   To me, that’s the ultimate testament to healthy, beautiful skin.

So RosaCalm works on red, irritated skin, moisturizes AND fights those dark spots on your skin.  After a little investigating, I discovered that this particular product won the Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers’ “Skin Care Product Innovation of the Year” in 2008.  It was proven so effective that it is used after skin procedures and after waxing – to soothe the skin.

Wow!  I didn’t use it for waxing, but I may try that and get back to you.  This product is cheaper than the Phyto + ($70 vs $48) and it also fights rosacea and redness.   If you suffer from any of these ailments, I HIGHLY recommend you try this product.

SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic: Product Review

All these Vitamin C lotions, serums, masques and more – which one is the best?

ceferulic

I have used the SkinCeuticals Serum 15, Serum 10 and this – CE Ferulic(r).  There is no arguing that SkinCeuticals has some of the best anti-aging serums and sunscreens on the market.  They are clean, pure, have a high concentration of the anti-aging ingredient you are looking for and you can ALWAYS see a difference in your skin’s tone.

My first impression of CE Ferulic is that it has lots of anti-aging benefits, but I felt that this was much stickier than the other Vitamin C serums they have in their line.

The SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic(r) has 15% Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) and 1% Vitamin E (alpha tocopherol)… SkinCeuticals always uses these large, fancy words to make you think you can’t get these ingredients anywhere else, but rest assured, if you looked them up, they are simple things you can understand, have heard in daily use…and that everyone uses.

Since I have used many Vitamin C serums, I know the C is not what made my face sticky.  Either the Ferulic Acid or Vitamin E probably cause the stickiness.

The Vitamin C + Vitamin E + Ferulic Acid combo is patented by SkinCeuticals.  Their studies indicate that Vitamin E helps stabilize the Vitamin C (it is hard to stabilize for use) and the Ferulic Acid helps protect your skin against sun damage – so you have that extra “layer”.  Read what Vitamin C does.

  • I recommend using this product at night, but if stickiness bothers you at all, I would use one of the straight Vitamin C serums like the Serum 20, 15 or 10.
  • As a warning when using Vitamin C, ALWAYS wear sunscreen and try to stay out of the sun.  Vitamin C makes you more sensitive to the suns rays.  This is why the Ferulic Acid added to their product is good – helps protect you from sun damage while you are putting Vitamin C on your face.

When Should You Detox?

Although the jury’s still out on the effectiveness of body detoxification, there is conclusive evidence that humans are exposed to more toxins than ever before and that those toxins can adversely affect our health. Proponents of body detoxification advise that detoxing can aid our bodies natural processes, arguing that the onslaught of contaminants is simply too much for our livers, kidneys, intestines, skin and lymph systems. However, Dr. Mehmet Oz recently cautioned on the Oprah Winfrey Show that there is little evidence to support the idea that contaminants are actually removed from the body during any cleanse of 10 days or less.

Don’t write off detoxing just yet, though. Many medical experts, including Dr. Oz, believe that detoxing can provide other health benefits. Dr. Oz stated that detoxes can be very effective when used as a way to jumpstart a weight loss program or reset your pallet, for instance if you need to lower your sodium intake. Of course, detox users sing a vastly different tune, stating that they feel lighter, cleaner and clearer post cleanse. The good news is that the medical community has largely approved cleanses and fasts, indicating that there is little risk involved in trying one unless you are pregnant, nursing or have a chronic medical condition or illness. Experts also advise that anyone wishing to try a body detox talk their doctor prior to delving in.

So if you’re willing to give it a go, you may be a prime candidate if you’re experiencing several of the following symptoms:
  • Fatigue, unexplained low energy;
  • Frequent gas and bloating;
  • Excess weight;
  • Impaired digestion;
  • Irritability or mood swings;
  • Persistent bad breath;
  • Recurring headaches; and/or
  • Frequent consipation.

Be sure to research various cleanses, some of which are as simple as fasting solely on organic fruits and vegetables for a few days, to determine which one is right for you.

Is A Body Detox Safe?

I’m a little miffed when websites advise, “It’s a well-known fact that you need to detox your body at least once a year.” Is it? Apparently, the news has yet to travel to this part of the country.

Although I’m not yet sold on its necessity, there is compelling evidence backing the health benefits of body detoxification. Robert Hager of NBC recently reported on a scientific study conducted by Mount Sinai Medical School in New York and the Environmental Work Group that tested contaminant levels in humans. Upon conclusion, Jane Houlihan of the Environmental Work Group stated that there is now “irrefutable proof that humans carry in their bodies scores of industrial contaminants most of which didn’t even exist 75 years ago.”

Unfortunately, we are exposed to pollutants in the air and water, in our food and beauty products, in the products we use to build and furnish our homes and clothe our bodies. We are exposed at literally every turn. Advocates of body detoxification argue that this onslaught of contaminants is too much for our livers and kidneys to filter, and therefore, our bodies and, more specifically, our blood needs to be cleansed of the sometimes cancer-causing pollutants. Other advocates also point to the wisdom of Eastern medicine, siting that fasting for detoxification has long been a part of preventative care.

Okay. So far, I’m on board.

However, there are as many types of cleanses as there are contaminants. (Okay, maybe not quite, but there are several.) Unfortunately, I am lost by much of the gimmicky advertising and promises of weight loss. According to James Dillard, M.D. of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City and author of Alternative Medicine for Dummies, it is possible, even likely, that body detoxing provides health benefits, but don’t expect significant or sustained weight loss.

  • The risk of trying a body detox is minimal
  • Users swear by their restorative effects, often stating that they feel cleaner, clearer and lighter post detox.
  • Most detoxification products are a mixture of fiber, vitamins, minerals and herbs believed to aid in ridding your body of toxins, such as milk thistle and dandelion.
  • Most detox programs are considered safe but experts advise that potential users discuss cleansing with their doctors, especially if you have any chronic or underlying health condition.
  • Cleanses are not advised for women who are pregnant or nursing.

10 Ways To Detox Your Body Without Starvation

If companies with less than creative, in-your-face names and the subsequent hard sell don’t sit well with you, you have other options when considering a detox. There are many simple, natural ways to detox without committing to a cleansing product. Many naturopathic doctors and nutritionists advocate water or juice fasts, as well as sugar fasts and fruit and veggie detoxes. Some even advocate a common ancient ritual in which you drink only water, no food, one day each week in an effort to keep your body free of dangerous contaminants.
There are even easier ways to aid your body’s natural healing and detoxification processes.
  1. Get rid of toxins wherever possible. This means eliminating alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, refined sugars and saturated fats. It also means minimizing exposure to toxic chemicals such as those contained in household cleaning products and beauty supplies. Check out how toxic your cosmetics are at the Cosmetics Safety Database by the Environmental Working Group.
  2. Eat organic to avoid the ingestion of toxic pesticides, preservatives and antibiotics.
  3. Get your fill of fiber, including brown rice and organic fruits and veggies. According to Dr. Mehmet Oz, fiber keeps thing moving and, therefore, are bodies are less likely to absorb toxins from what we’ve ingested. Other excellent sources of fiber and detoxifying foods are radishes, artichokes, beets, cabbage and broccoli.
  4. Incorporate other detoxifying foods into your diet. Foods such as green tea, dandelion greens, cilantro, garlic, pomegranate and cruciferous vegetables are known to have detoxifying effects.
  5. Reduce stress. Stress hormones not only create toxins, they slow down the livers detoxification process. Take a yoga class. Practice meditation. Exercise. Qigong, a martial art, and yoga contain specific exercises to detoxify.
  6. Drink water. At least two quarts a day.
  7. Sweat in a sauna to eliminate toxic waste through perspiration. Try vinyasa yoga in a hot studio and kill two birds (numbers 4 and 6) with one stone.
  8. Make sure you get enough vitamin C. It helps the body with glutathione production. Glutathione is a liver compound that aids in detoxification.
  9. Use herbs such as milk thistle, dandelion root and burdock believed to aid in detoxification. A word of caution though – certain herbs, like burdock, are not approved for long term use, so be to ask questions.
  10. Breathe. And do it deeper. Breathing deeply allows oxygen to circulate more completely which helps detoxify and reduce stress.

What Is A Body Detox?

Body detox refers to the process of removing contaminants from our blood.

waterglass

Our miraculous little bodies do this all by themselves; toxins are removed through the liver and processed for elimination. Toxins are also eliminated from our bodies by our kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymph system and skin. However, when our own detoxification system is compromised (for a host of reasons such as the type or amount of contaminant exposure, a less than stellar diet, or other health issues) our bodies may need a little help.

This is precisely the argument of those who back detoxification. And note, they’re not all crackpots or health nuts. Many advocates are naturopathic physicians, and if that’s unimpressive, cleanses have been practiced for centuries by many cultures, including ayurvedic and Chinese medicine.

Although there are several kinds of cleanses out there (some that simply require fasting while other, more complicated cleanses require the purchase of a specific product) the goals are typically the same. According to Deborahann Smith for Gaiam Life, detox programs aid the body’s natural cleansing process by:

  1. Resting the organs involved in detoxification through fasting;
  2. Stimulating the liver, often with vitamins herbs that boost the antioxidant glutathione;
  3. Promoting elimination primarily through the intestines (thank you, fiber) but also the kidneys and skin;
  4. Improving blood circulation; and/or
  5. Refueling the body with healthy nutrients, often with organic fruits and vegetables but also with minerals such as zinc and selenium.

So whichever detox program or product you use, be sure that the ingredients and activities perform at least some, if not all, of the above functions. Doing so will help to ensure that your detox provides the maximum health benefits to your body and is worth both your time and effort.

Change Your Mind, Love Your Body, Lose The Weight

Obesity has become a health crisis of epidemic proportions, with nearly two thirds of Americans considered overweight. How can it be, then, that practically every woman I know, even the skinny you-know-whats, are obsessed with weight loss? It seems the more panicked and desperate we become, the higher the numbers on the scale climb and the fatter we get.

scaleIt’s a ridiculous and depressing dilemma, and according to the NOW Foundation, 80% of women are dissatisfied with their bodies. Unfortunately, the poorer your body image, the more likely you are to suffer from depression, anxiety, eating disorders, even suicide.

It’s become clear that weight loss gimmicks are not the answer. We’ve learned that although they may result in a significant weight loss initially, they often cause us to gain it all back and then some once we revert back to reality.

What is the answer?

Successful weight loss and healthy body image begin with the way we think.

  • The next time you’re berating yourself, take a moment to examine, and rewrite, your thoughts. When you’re at your worst, cursing yourself for eating that pint of Chunky Monkey and telling yourself that you’re a cow who can’t do anything right, take a moment and right down that nasty thought.
  • Once it’s there in black and white, rate your belief in that thought on a scale from 1 to 10. If you’re not actually a cow but feeling fat and frumpy, maybe half of you buys into the thought, so give it a five.
  • Now reword the thought so that it more accurately reflects the truth. For example, “I’m 20 pounds overweight and don’t feel very good about myself, especially after eating all of that ice cream. I’m working on it though. I’ve been exercising and eating right, but I made a poor choice.”
  • Rate your reworded thought – how much do you believe the revised statement? Hopefully, your attempt to be more accurate has put you at a 10. And it’s possible that if you continue to reword those self-defeating thoughts, eventually you won’t hear that berating voice at all.

The critical, even abusive voice in our heads does us no good. If you struggle with your weight and a negative body image, take an honest look at the way you think about yourself. Steering clear of negative self-talk just might help you accomplish your weight loss goals. Regardless of whether or not you lose a pound, chances are you’ll be much happier with yourself, and isn’t that what matters most?

10 Ways To Love Your Body To A Stellar Self-Image

Womaninmirror

About 80% of women are unhappy with their bodies. Stop wasting time sabotaging yourself with self-hatred and criticism.

Learn to love your body by trying out a few of the following suggestions:

  1. Value your body. Focus on your health rather than your appearance. As you learn to respect your body, you’ll begin to naturally gravitate towards more nutritious foods and regular exercise in an effort to live a healthier life. If you value your body, you understand that being thin isn’t beautiful if it adversely affects your health.
  2. Focus on what your body can do rather than how it looks. Our bodies are extraordinary machines with miraculous abilities (carrying a child, self-healing.) My lungs may not be as sexy as Giselle’s, but they work just as well.
  3. Stop dissecting yourself. Your body is a mathematical anomaly – the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You are so much more than your imperfect legs or flabby arms. If you’re going to pick yourself apart, choose to focus on the parts you love rather than your perceived faults.
  4. Look at real people around you. Don’t compare yourself to Amazon tall, uber thin, airbrushed models.  Life looks quite different without Photoshop.
  5. Take pleasure in just being alive. Create a gratitude journal and record three things each day that you are grateful for – things that have nothing to do with physical appearance.  We are very lucky to even be alive and born healthy so give thanks.
  6. Stop putting your life on hold for someday when you’re skinny. Live NOW. Take pride in your appearance: buy clothes that fit well and make you feel good or get that haircut you’ve been wanting. You don’t have to be a size two to be beautiful. The people I find most attractive are the ones that exude confidence and individuality. Their size is irrelevant. Consider the people you value most in your life; has their appearance played any part in your love or admiration for them?
  7. Find a physical activity that you enjoy and focus on the good it does for your body rather than your desire to lose weight. Exercise doesn’t have to be torture. It can be fun.  Really.
  8. Replace negative self-talk with more positive, more realistic thinking. It’s incredibly difficult to be successful and feel good when there’s a nagging voice telling you that you’re fat, you’re ugly, you’re a failure. Shut that voice up. Don’t allow anyone to demean and abuse you, including yourself.
  9. Learn to be honest with yourself without being critical. (See Change Your Mind, Love Your Body) for more information. Recognize that everyone sees you and your body differently. There will always be people who think you’re beautiful and there will always be folks that don’t find you attractive, whether you’re a size 2 or 22.
  10. Practice self-acceptance. After all, this is the only body you’ve got and you’ve got to learn to love it!

SkinCeuticals Serum 15 AOX+: Product Review

SkinCeuticals Serum 15 AOX+

Vitamin C in a pure form – SkinCeuticals’ Serum 15- it is, in my opinion, the best and most versatile vitamin C on the retail market.  This vitamin C serum is a pure, gel-like serum that contains 15% L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).

I have seen others with a higher percentage of Vitamin C, but they have all been thick lotions. As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t enjoy lotions because they don’t absorb as well (read about Serums vs. Lotions).

The SkinCeuticals Serum 15 AOX+ comes in a small brown bottle with a dropper.   At night, you simply apply a thin layer after washing your face.  If your face is sticky, you have used a little too much.
  • When you begin using Vitamin C, it will tingle and sting a little.  This goes away as your skin gets used to the product.
  • Apply at night before bed.
  • For more effectiveness, use a Clarisonic Skin Care Brush to exfoliate the skin before applying Vitamin C.  Your product will absorb better, deeper and will be more effective to the anti-aging process.
  • Vitamin C is effective at building elastin and collagen, clearing up blemishes, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and giving you that glow.

I have tried at least 10 other vitamin C “serums” and I can’t say that I saw a noticable difference when I used them.  Whenever I switch back to the SkinCeuticals Serum, I see a difference in days.  My skin is smoother, tighter and has an even tone.

When someone asks me how to clear up their combination skin, this product and Aminogenesis Photolagen-AGF are always in the mix.  Highly recommended and worth the splurge – it runs around $70 a bottle that lasts you 6-8 months.
Believe me, it is worth it!!

SkinCeuticals: The Basics

SkinCeuticals helped to pioneer the world of cosmoceuticals (cosmetic products believed to have medicinal benefits) when they created a topical Vitamin C product to protect skin from signs of premature aging. Their continued multidisciplinary approach to skin health, involving top scientists from various fields in product development, has earned them a strong reputation with the medical community around the world and SkinCeuticals has quickly become an industry leader.

Prevent

Touted as skin care based on science, SkinCeuticals is founded on the idea that healthy skin equals beautiful skin, and that beautiful skin is achieved from the inside out.
SkinCeuticals offers a complete line of skin care products, from cleansers to sunscreens, that promote optimal skin health by correcting and preventing damage.

-  Fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and the loss of
elasticity can be reversed using reparative antioxidant products that contain both lightening and exfoliating ingredients.

- SkinCeuticals suncreens provide the ultimate in skin protection, preventing aging from the sun, as well as promoting health. These products contain Z-Cote, a transparent zinc oxide that provides maximum protection without the unattractive white paste.

-  Most impressive, the benefits and effectiveness of SkinCeuticals skin care products are supported by scientific evidence. SkinCeuticals is a top-quality, physician-grade skin care product line that is designed to nourish and protect, and, ultimately, to achieve more youthful-looking skin.

Healthy is beautiful.

The Skinny On Body Wraps – Weight Loss Or Water Loss?

Body wraps are being hailed as the newest weapon in the battle of the bulge. Yet in a world where we are bombarded with weight loss products, most of which are ineffective, many are skeptical of any product that claims immediate weight loss results.

On one hand, many of us have learned the hard way that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. On the other hand, many women swear by the transformative effects of body wraps, which leads me to believe that maybe it’s not all hype and advertising.

How do body wraps work? There are various types of wraps on the market, some of which sound a little hokier than others (e.g. a saran wrap type product that essentially suffocates the crap out of your fat.) The most promising types involve minerals, herbs and/or detoxifying clays and are intended not only to aid in weight loss, but to improve skin suppleness and overall health.

  • Toxins are stored in fat, causing our cells to enlarge. When natural wraps are applied, toxins are
    drawn from the body, then shed from the body in natural waste processes.
  • Results in firmer skin, less cellulite and the loss of several inches after just one use.
  • Users swear that the weight loss is legitimate loss rather than water weight, and it stays off
  • Results in 45 min after one application.

Do they work? The new ones actually work and I lost inches with one use.  My cellulite had improved! These wraps are all-natural and completely safe, it almost seems too good to be true!

Have we really found the miracle wrap?! I am a huge skeptic of “quick” and “easy” weight loss, and I can’t believe I can say this, but THEY WORK.  My cellulite had a huge improvement with ONE treatment.

Natural herbal body wrapscontain rosemary, lavendar, juniper, jojoba, eucalyptus, green tea – herbs with well-documented antioxidant, exfoliating and/or healing properties.

So whether or not they result in significant weight loss is one question, but it seems that many of these products can actually foster healthier, more supple skin.Manufacturer testimonials do attest to the weight loss and attest to KEEPING THE WEIGHT OFF. Long-term seems to results in significant weight loss, there are definitely benefits to skin health and appearance.

Wraps are also advertised as a tool to improve your overall health because of their detoxifying properties, purifying your body from the inside out.

The bottom line – if you’re looking for tighter, more toned skin, (and who isn’t, really?) they’re worth checking out. And you just might find you lose a few inches in the process.
